    - ok, this is really supposed to be a joke or parody, but after 250 years you might miss the punch lines. Pudding that's made quickly hasn't cooked long enough to get thick. No starch, green as the colonial troops.
  - And there was Captain Washington upon a slapping stallion, agiving orders to his men, I guess there was a million - Yankee Doodle...
    - a million orders not men.
  - Then they'd fife away like fun and play on cornstalk fiddles. And some had ribbons red as blood all bound around their middles - Yankee Doodle...
    - High class European military sported brightly colored uniforms. The colonial 'red ribbons' referred to bloody bandages of wounded soldiers.
  - I can't tell you all I saw they kept up such a smother. I took my hat off, made a bow and scampered home to mother - Yankee Doodle...
    - Many a young man would run off from home to seek his fortune with a grand military organization. But this ragtag outfit has them running back home again.
